The Cooma Community Garden (est2009) has created a community focal point which aims to improve the quality of life of participants; a gathering point for all people to share a common interest, celebrate the seasons and develop a sense of “place” in our natural world.
Aims of the Garden: The CCG will hold educational workshops as required to establish and maintain a demonstration “back yard” garden and allotments.
By demonstrating what can be done, the CCG anticipates that the capacity building nature of the workshops with enable and encourage people to grow food in their own backyards.
The CCG aims to maintain a water-wise approach in the operation of the garden.
The CCG aims to create and sustain for rent and/or sponsorship through CCG.
The CCG aims to engage volunteers and community members in the Garden, such as Cooma Mens Shed and local schools, and from time to time to support the activities relevant to both parties eg. the Uniting Church Annual Fete and Harvest Festivals.
